Technology is incredible and I am so thankful that I can see my dear friends' faces while they were in a taxi a million miles away, traveling with supplies to their home in Haiti. I was super excited to hear they wanted to chat but could instantly see on Heather and Laura's faces that our call was not just a time of catching up..... they carried heavy hearts with sad news. Their sweet girl Phanise had slipped away from this earth and into Heaven early today.
My heart is breaking, the tears are just falling down my cheeks as I so desperately want to be there, in Haiti, to comfort and cry with them. I spent some time last summer visiting Footprints of the Son and know that the community of supporters will rally around this organization but it is just so hard to grieve on different continents.
Phanise had hydrocephaly and now she is healed and whole and in heaven. I did dream of seeing her again, her walking and talking here on earth but I know she is dancing her heart out on the clouds of eternity. Below are some images I took of her...
While I was driving I heard the song "A Thousand Years" and I imagined that God was talking to Phanise saying to her:
"And all along I believed I would find you Time has brought your heart to me I have loved you for a thousand years I'll love you for a thousand more"
Many of the other lyrics apply too but as my thoughts went to Phanise, I found some comfort in thinking the time was now and it is good.
Life is an exciting business, and most exciting when it is lived for others. - Helen Keller
